Own son of BCGW5 Timber 30-1 with meat quality from the dam that is sired by CCV0 Stallion 16-4. He is now home in Arizona after being at Brice Conover's Boar Stud in Iowa. He is pictured at 2 years of age and has matured beautifully - heavy bone, a big foot, tall fronted, and a deep rib. His litters look great.

Heritage Pork breeds come from purebred bloodlines going back hundreds of years. Some of these breeds such as Berkshire, Yorkshire, Gloucester Old Spot, Saddleback, and Large Black pigs began to come to the United States in the early 1800’s. Throughout the 1800’s Americans developed breeds such as the Poland China, Hereford, Duroc, Chester White, and Hampshire by adding and crossing the bloodlines to develop American purebred lines. Pigs were raised on multi-use farms for meat, bacon and lard in outdoor enviroments foraging on the land, grasses, and grains and in the early days were known as naturally hardy to survive intense weather conditions. They were also driven to market so they needed size and to be good travelers as well. The dawn of the industrial agricultural age changed many farming techniques. Heritage pork breeds are not well suited for the intensive farming techniques in use today and commercial breeds have been genetically developed to withstand the commercial environment. As a result Heritage Pork herds began to rapidly decline throughout the United States. Today many family farms have begun to raise Heritage Breeds once again. Those consumers that are looking for an exceptional pork product with hearty taste have once again found Heritage Pork. In Arizona your source is Hopkins Hog Farm. ARIZONA RAISED FRESH PORK!
In addition to our purebred line, we have an excellent selection of harvest ready hogs available year round. We grind our own feed, using the best corn and grain available. We do not add old or spoiled products to our feed, nor will you find antibiotics. We produce an exceptional pork product that selective consumers prefer. Call or e-mail Elijah to place an order for your harvest ready hog that can be sent to the processor of your choice.
